Glitz & Grits...THE Place to Be Sept. 23, 2011!

Glitz & Grits, a gala held every other year, is the Friends of LSEM's major fund-raising event, with the proceeds used to bring nationally recognized cultural events and exhibits to the Museum and to the community. Plans are already in the works for stellar festivities on Friday, Sept. 23, 2011. It will feature a major exhibit and a Russian theme. Don't miss the Cossacks and Gypsy Fortune Tellers!
 
Glitz & Grits 2009 served as the kick-off event for "Triumph Over Tragedy: The Great Depression & New Deal Era in North Louisiana" project.
 
Entertainment included Grammy Nominee Buddy Flett and Friends and headliner and Grammy Nominee Hubert Sumlin (See "Glitz and Grits:  Bluesman Hubert Sumlin, new exhibit in the spotlight," September 15, 2009 article and photos in The (Shreveport) Times). Catering was by Cantina Laredo. Alyson Foreman from A Piece of Cake prepared extraordinary desserts.
 
The Louisiana State Exhibit Museum is one of the finest examples in our region of a Modernist architecture project completed with New Deal funds. It stands as a testament to the perseverance of a people and a nation and the triumphs that can be achieved even in the most tragic of times. With the theme “A Celebration of 80 Years,” we hoped to capture that spirit of triumph.
 
Glitz & Grits was held on September 19, 2009, at the Louisiana State Exhibit Museum.
